Option 1: Create an image with two singatures and specify the image path on check setup screen.

Option 2: If you will sign the check manully, here is the instructions on how to add the second signature line on paychecks.

1. Start ezPaycheck, click the left menu "Checks->Check setup" to open check setup screen. Then click the "Checl Layout Setup" button to open check layout setup screen.

2. Add second signature line

Select "Custom Line 0" from item Picker and set it visible. Then you can drag/drop the line to a new loclation. Then you can change x-end position value to make tbe length. If you like the change, click the SAVE button.

The database file is .mdb file (Microsoft Access Database file)

Step 1: Open ezW2 2011 folder

If you are using Windows 8, 7 or Vista with default settings, the default ezW2 2011 folder can be:

If you need to print data only on pre-printed checks, you can click the top menu "Settings->Edit Current Account" to open the check setup page. You need to uncheck the option “Use blank Check Stock” to use the pre-printed checks and save your change. Then ezCheckPersonal will not print your bank information on checks. You can find more details below:

Step 1: Start ezCheckPersonal

Step 3: Add a new check
Go back to the main page. Click the New button to add a check. Select this check from the check list and click the Print button to print your check.

 

 

 

Step 4: Print Check

Select the check(s) from check list and click the PRINT button (see image in step 3). Select your target printer and you will see the pre-preview screen. Since you already chosen to use the pre-printed check, EzCheckPersonal will print the data only on checks.

If you are satisfied at your checks, click the PRINTER icon to print the checks.

A fringe benefit is a form of pay (including property, services, cash or cash equivalent) in addition to stated pay for the performance of services. Some forms of additional compensation are specifically designated as “fringe benefits” in the Internal Revenue Code.

Fringe benefits commonly include health insurance, group term life coverage, education reimbursement, childcare and assistance reimbursement and cafeteria plans. Fringe benefits for employees are taxable wages unless specifically excluded by a section of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC).

The IRC may provide that fringe benefits are nontaxable, partially taxable, or tax-deferred.

Taxable – Includible in gross income unless excluded under an IRC section. “Taxable” means the benefit is included in the employees' wages and reported on Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, and generally is subject to Federal income tax withholding, social security (unless the employee has already reached the current year social security wage base limit), and Medicare. If the recipient is an employee, this amount is includible as wages. For example, bonuses are always taxable because no IRC section excludes them from taxation

Nontaxable (excludable) – Excluded from wages by a specific IRC section; for example, qualified health plan benefits excludable under section 105.

 

Partially taxable - Part is excluded by IRC section and part is taxable. Benefits may be excludable up to dollar limits, such as the public transportation subsidy under IRC §132.

Tax-deferred – Benefit is not taxable when received, but subject to tax later. For example, employer contributions to an employee's pension plan may not be taxable when made, but may be taxed when distributed to the employee.

Some Windows 7 users connected us because they could not register the key successfully. Usually it is caused by permission settings.

Here are steps to run one program as administer on Windows 7 machine:

- Select the shortcut of this software from the desktop, and then click the right mouse button.
- On the pop up menu, click the “Properties”.

 

- Click the top tap “Compatibility”
- Then check the option “Run this program as an administrator”
- Click the OK button to save the change

Then try to enter the key again.

How to Edit Check Number With EzCheckPrinting Software

1.       Change the current check number on check setup page for the new checks.

 

You can access the check setup page by clicking ezCheckPrinting top menu “Settings->Check setup”. Change the current check number and save your change.  You will see the new check number when add a new check

 

2.       Edit the check number of an existing check

 

(If you are printing checks from QuickBooks and Quicken with ezCheckPrinting QuickBooks Virtual Printer, you can close the print-preview page to view this ezCheckPrinting check list screen. You can print the check from ezCheckPrinting software after you modify the check number.)

 

            You can select the check from ezCheckPrinting check list, and then click the EDIT button above the list to edit the check number.

Kansas Tax Cuts Signed Into Law

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback signed a bill on May 22, 2012 that will reduce individual income tax rates for Kansans and eliminate state taxes on business income claimed on individual returns.

 

The tax plan, which was the subject of weeks of intense debate and political maneuvering in the legislature, will reduce the top individual state income-tax rate to 4.9% from 6.45% in 2013. It also will eliminate income taxes on non-wage income for about 191,000 small businesses.

How to print Peachtree checks on the blank check stock

You need to export the check data from Peachtree first, then import them into ezCheckPrinting and print checks.

 

Step 1: Export check data from Peachtree to .csv file

- Start Peachtree, open the check Register Report

- On the Register Report screen, click the button “Edit->Copy” to copy your data to the clipboard.

- Open Microsoft Excel, then paste the report there (Ctrl+V ). 

- Delete the report title, summary data and empty space. You just need to keep the headers and check data.

- Click the top menu “File->Save as” to save this file as csv file (Comma delimited file). Close this file.

    State Government Tax Collections Increase $56 Billion in 2011

    Good News! Census Bureau recent press release states that "Overall government tax collections for states increased $55.7 billion to $757.2 billion in fiscal year 2011". 

     

    Corporate net income tax revenue was at $40.2 billion, up 9.4 percent, while tax revenue on individual income was at $259.1 billion, up 9.8 percent. General sales tax revenue was at $234.5 billion, up 5.4 percent. Corporate net income tax revenue, individual income tax revenue and general sales tax revenue comprised 70.5 percent of all state government tax collections nationally.

     

    All 50 states saw an increase in total tax revenue in fiscal year 2011, led by North Dakota (44.5 percent), Alaska (22.4 percent), Illinois (15.3 percent), and New Mexico (15.1 percent).

    How to Handle Payroll Tasks for Both W2 Employees and 1099 Contractors

Since employer does not need to withhold taxes from contractors’ paychecks, we would like to suggest you add the second account to handle the paychecks for 1099 contractors.     What is PreNote in ACH file?

    A prenote is the commonly used term for an Automated Clearing House (ACH) prenotification.

    Prenotes are optional for the originating company, but they are not optional for the receiving bank or credit union (the RDFI, or receiving depository financial institution) once the originating company sends one. Under the ACH rules’ National System of Fines, an RDFI can be fined if they do not validate prenotes sent to them.

    Under NACHA Operating Rules (also known as ACH rules), a prenote’s purpose is to “validate” the routing number and account number of the receiving bank or credit union.

    Open ezCheckPersonal application on your old machine and insert your USB disk. Click top menu "Accounts->Backup Current Accounts" to backup current database file to USB disk. You can enter the new name as you like.

     

    If you have more than multiple accounts, please select a new database as your current one and back up them one by one.


    4. Copy the database file from USB disk to the application folder on your new machine.

    Start ezCheckPersonal on the new machine, then click the top menu "Account->Restore account" and select the file from the USB disk. ezCheckPersonal will copy this backup file to your new machine.

    5. Select the new database file as current company database by clicking the top menu "Accounts->Select Account".

    Here is the step by step guide on how to re-install ez1099

    1. Start ez1099 software

    2. backup the database by clicking the top menu "Company->Backup Company".
    Your data should be safe during this process, however, we always suggest you backup your database first. If you have more than one database, you should back up all of them one by one.

    3. Uninstall ez1099 from Control Panel

    How to run a program as the administrator

    Problem: I installed ezW2 and see the shortcut icon from my desktop. However I cannot start this application.

     

    Solution: Usually this issue is caused by permission problem. Please make sure you have enough permission on your local machine to install a new program and run a program.

     

     

    You can log in as administrator to install this program and run it. If you can run it as administrator but cannot run it as normal user. You need give normal user running and write/read permission to this application and the applicaiton folder.

     

     

    If you are the administrator of your machine and still see this problem, you can try the following steps.

     

     

    For Windows 7 and 8 machines

    1.       Select the shortcut icon from your desktop.

    For example, if you are running ezW2 2011 now, you can select ezW2 2011 shortcut

     

    2.       Press the right button of the mouse, then you will see the pop up menu. Then click the sub menu Properties  to open the Properties screen

    3.       Click the tab “Compatibility”, then check the option “Run this program as an administrator”.

    4.       Click the Apply button.

    5.       Click the OK button to close this screen

    6.       Then double click the shortcut icon to start your application again.
