When ezPaycheck 2012 users run ezPaycheck 2013 update package, it should transfer all the data to ezPaycheck 2013 automatically. However if your machine has higher security settings, ezPaycheck may not be able to transfer the data automatically.
Here is the step by step guide on to move the data manually.
1. If you have backed up your database, you can use the restore function to copy the data easily. You can see more details about data backup and restore here
http://www.halfpricesoft.com/faq.asp#BACKUP
2. If you have NOT backed up database before, you can copy the data from the old data folder to the new data folder manually.
Step 1: Open the old ezPaycheck database folder
The default folder is:
C:/Program Files/Halfpricesoft/ezPaycheck
If you are using Windows 8, 7 or Vista with some settings, the default folder can be:
C:/Users/YourName/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program Files/Halfpricesoft/ezPaycheck
(Some machine may hide the APPDATA folder. You may need to type the path manually.)
The database file is the .mdb file (Microsoft Access Database file).
Step 2: Copy the database file to the new folder
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Halfpricesoft\ezPayCheck
If you are using XP machine, the new folder is:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Halfpricesoft\ezPayCheck
Step 3: Switch current company account
Start ezPaycheck, then click the top menu “Company->select company” to select the backup database file as the current database file.
