    • Is Check Printing Legal?
      Yes, printing checks from your own printer is perfectly legal. However, they must be printed on special paper.

    • Do I need special printer toner?
      If you have pre-printed checks with MICR line, you can use any printer. If you need to print checks on blank stock, we suggest customers to use MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) toner and MICR ink for the best printing quality. However, many US bank are using Optical check reader today which can scan the checks printed on blank stock with regular office/home laser printers.A jet or dot matrix printer CAN'T be used to print checks on blank check stock.

    • Does the trial version have any limitations?
      The trial version or the download version is actually the full version with the only limitation that it will print the Trial images on checks, W2, W3. 940 and 941 forms. It stops working after 30 days unless you activate it. You can activate the program at any time and all your data will stay there.

    • I've reinstalled ezPayCheck and it is telling me that I have no more activations left. How do I activate the program now?

    • When I try to install ezPayCheck, it tells me I need to download the Microsoft .Net Framework. How do I do this?
      ezPayCheck runs on the Microsoft .Net Framework, version 2.0. To download and install the framework, you visit Windows Update.     • Will updating package delete or overwrite my data from prior years?
      No, updating package will not change existing company information. In fact, ezPayCheck has two separate databases: company database and tax database.

      Company Database saves all your company information such as employee information, your check information and so on. All the information you input will be saved in this database.

      Tax Database saves all the federal and State Tax Tables. ezPayCheck application calculates tax based on these tables.

      Updating Version will update tax database only. So your existing company information is safe.

      Paycheck Setup and Printing

    • How to use pre-printed checks?
      You can select this option from check setup form. You can access check setup form by clicking the left menu "Checks->check setup". Then you can uncheck "Print on blank Check Stock" option to use pre-printed check. Learn more here.


    • What kind of blank check paper is acceptable?
      DO NOT use plain paper! Blank check stock has security features (watermarks, micr printing, etc.) which help prevent fraud. ezPayCheck will work with any blank/preprinted computer check paper with 8-1/2" X 11" size and check size 8-1/2" X 3-1/2".

    • How do I know if the check is properly aligned?
      You can print out "Check Alignment Page" and align your check on the bottom and right line to check if the Routing Number fits inside the correct box. The "Print Check Alignment" button is on "Check Setup Page". The Routing Number includes the leading symbol.

    • What kind file format is acceptable for signature and logo image?
      The signature image file can accept .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .tiff and .png.




    • How can I use check-at-bottom format check paper?
      EzPaycheck supports check-on-top, check-in-middle or check-at-bottom formats. Click here to see how to change paycheck format.

    • How can I create a signature file?
      The easiest way is using free Windows Paint from Accessories -> Paint. You can set the image size to 150 X 50 in Pixel from Image->Attibutes. And then use the pen to draw your signature.

    • How can I adjust the check printing position?
      You can adjust the check print out position by modifying the values of "Offset left", "Offset right", "Offset up" and "Offset down" fields from the check setup screen. You can access this screen by clicking the left menu "checks->Check Setup". Learn more details here.

    • Why just half of check was printed from my printer?

    • The most common reason for this issue is the printer uses the wrong size paper. You should use the Letter size paper when you print the check.And several other settings may also cause this printing problem. Learn more here.

      Common Issues:

    • When I run ezPaycheck, I got database errors. Why?
      You may not have enough permission on local machine.

      To install database correctly, you need to have administrator permission to install ezPaycheck. When you run ezPaycheck, some operations require you have permission to create a new database file on your local machine, such as "New Company".

    • When I run ezPaycheck, the bank account number on my check does not display correctly. Why?
      It is a font problem.
      1) You need to have administrator permission to install ezPaycheck.
      2) After installation, please restart your machine.

    • After I updated ezpaycheck 2012 to 2013 version, I could not find my data.
      EzPaycheck should transfer the data automatically. However, if your machine has higher security settings, you can check this article to transfer it manually. Learn more here

    • When I run ezPaycheck, the bank account number on my check does not display correctly. Why?
      It is a font problem.
      1) You need to have administrator permission to install ezPaycheck.
      2) After installation, please restart your machine.

    • I add a new employee and create a new check. However, I see no state tax deduction. Is it an error?

    • No, it may not be an error. Some states have tax limits.

      For example, your state tax starts from $6000 and you create a check of $3000. If the employee's YTD income is $3000, you will see no state tax. However, if his YTD income is $8000, you will see tax there.

      You can find more tax information from your state tax tables.

    • I added YTD information for an employee and saved it. However, when I created a new check, I could not find my YTD information.

    • The ENDING DATE of the YTD data should be earlier than your first payroll check date. They should not be overlapped.

      For example: If you first payroll check starts from 5/1/2007, then the ENDING DATE of the YTD data should be earlier than 4/30/2007. Otherwise, you may not be able to save your data correctly.

    • Can I add an IRA Deduction and withdraw 3% from each paycheck automatically?

    • If you need to move the ezPaycheck to a new computer, you first need to install ezPaycheck on the machine, back up your company database file to a shared folder or a USB disk, and then restore it on the new computer.
