    • Is Check Printing Legal?
      Yes, printing checks from your own printer is perfectly legal. However, they must be printed on special paper.

    • Do I need special printer toner?
      If you have pre-printed checks with MICR line, you can use any printer. If you need to print checks on blank stock, we suggest MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) printers and laser printer. Most US banks are using optical check readers today which can scan the checks printed on blank stock with regular office/home laser printers. Many of our customers prefer to use laser printers. However, MICR toner and MICR ink will print checks with the best quality.

      We do not suggest the normal ink-jet printer for blank stock check printing because some ATMs and grocery stores may not be able to scan the checks if they are still using the old scanners.

      You can purchase the laser printer from your local office store and online.

    • Does the trial version have any limitations?
      The trial version or the download version is actually the full version with the only limitation that it will print the Trial images on checks, W2, W3. 940 and 941 forms. It stops working after 30 days unless you activate it. You can activate the program at any time and all your data will stay there.

    • I've reinstalled ezPayCheck and it is telling me that I have no more activations left. How do I activate the program now?

    • When I try to install ezPayCheck, it tells me I need to download the Microsoft .Net Framework. How do I do this?
      ezPayCheck runs on the Microsoft .Net Framework, version 2.0. To download and install the framework, you visit Windows Update. The .Net Framework version 2.0 is listed as an available update for your computer. Select to install it. After it is installed you will be able to install and run ezPayCheck.

    • Do I have to start using ezPayCheck at the beginning of the year?
      No, you can start using ezPayCheck Payroll at any time of the year. You just enter Year-to-date (YTD) totals for your employees.

    • Does it print W-2s and W-3s?
      Yes! You can print W-2 form Copy B, c and D on plain paper, complete and ready to use. You can print W-2 copy A and W-3 on pre-printed red-ink forms.

    • Does it print the MICR encoding on checks?
      Yes, ezPayCheck Payroll does print the MICR encoding on checks. You can print MICR bank routing numbers, account numbers, check numbers and bank information on blank check stock using a laser printer.

    • Does ezPayCheck handle pre-tax and after-tax deductions?
      Yes, ezPayCheck Payroll has very flexible deduction set up capabilities that allow it to handle pre-tax and after-tax deduction.

      Yes, ezPaycheck can support unlimited companies and employees. ezPaycheck is $99 per calendar year per installation. If you will handle multple companies from the same machine, there is no extra charge. However, if you will install ezPaycheck at multiple locations, you should buy multiple-userlicense.

    • How to update ezPaycheck? And the cost?
      You can update ezPaycheck by downloading the latest ezPaycheck installation package and finish the update process by a few clicks. This update is free for current ezpaycheck users.

      For example, you are registered user of ezPaycheck 2012 and you will get all 2012 update package for free. If you are ezPaycheck 2011 user, you need to purchase the new license key.

    • Will updating package delete or overwrite my data from prior years?
      No, updating package will not change existing company information. In fact, ezPayCheck has two separate databases: company database and tax database.

      Company Database saves all your company information such as employee information, your check information and so on. All the information you input will be saved in this database.

      Tax Database saves all the federal and State Tax Tables. ezPayCheck application calculates tax based on these tables.

      Updating Version will update tax database only. So your existing company information is safe.

      Common Issues:

    • Why my paycheck cannot be read by bank scanner?

    • I got database errors when I saved a new paycheck. Why?
      You may not have enough permission on local machine.

      To install database correctly, you need to have administrator permission to install ezPaycheck. When you run ezPaycheck, some operations require you have permission to create a new database file on your local machine, such as "New Company".

    • When I run ezPaycheck, the bank account number on my check does not display correctly. Why?
      It is a font problem.
      1) You need to have administrator permission to install ezPaycheck.
      2) After installation, please restart your machine.

    • I add a new employee and create a new check. However, I see no state tax deduction. Is it an error?

    • No, it may not be an error. Some states have tax limits.

      For example, your state tax starts from $6000 and you create a check of $3000. If the employee's YTD income is $3000, you will see no state tax. However, if his YTD income is $8000, you will see tax there.

      You can find more tax information from your state tax tables.

    • I added YTD information for an employee and saved it. However, when I created a new check, I could not find my YTD information.

    • The ENDING DATE of the YTD data should be earlier than your first payroll check date. They should not be overlapped.

      For example: If you first payroll check starts from 5/1/2007, then the ENDING DATE of the YTD data should be earlier than 4/30/2007. Otherwise, you may not be able to save your data correctly.

    • Can I add an IRA Deduction and withdraw 3% from each paycheck automatically?

    • I bought a new computer. How can I move ezPaycheck from the old machine to the new one?

    • If you need to move the ezPaycheck to a new computer, you first need to install ezPaycheck on the machine, back up your company database file to a shared folder or a USB disk, and then restore it on the new computer.     • Why just half of check or image or form or report printed from my printer?
