So, I submitted the files prematurely (before I had been turned to production mode). The files were rejected because I was not in production. I called the IRS. They moved me to production. I then resubmitted the files. Checked today. They were rejected for being "duplicate files". Called the IRS again. They told me that I had to send "REPLACEMENT" files - not "CORRECTION" files.

I looked for that on the software and have not been able to find anything. Actually, your FAQ on efiling has a link to Correction and Replacement" - but the question only relates to "correction."

Thus, the question is - how do I complete a correction file so I can resubmit to the IRS?

Thank you.

Two reasons can cause this issue:
1. You submitted duplicate form for the employee. Ie: you import form twice by mistake.

Solution 1: start ez1095 and view the 1095 form list. You can sort the forms by first name. If you see duplicate forms there, you can backup data, clear list and import data again.

2. You submit the same files to IRS again

Solution 2: You might summit the same files to IRS again. IRS will not accept the same form information they declined before. You need to update your forms and geneate the new XML files. If you have no data to correct on 1095 forms, you can make some minor change of your company setup to update 1094 form. ie: change "rd" to "road" for contact address. or change contact name.

If IRS declined your XML documents but give you a receipt ID for the first failed submission, you may need to replacement next time. If you are filing replacement, you can refer to this guide:
