Yes, printing checks from your own printer is perfectly legal. However, they must be printed on special paper.
Do I need special printer and printer toner?
If you have pre-printed checks with MICR line, you can use any printer. If you need to print checks on blank stock, we suggest customers to use MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) toner and MICR ink for the best printing quality. However, many US bank are using Optical check reader today which can scan the checks printed on blank stock with regular office/home laser printers.A jet or dot matrix printer CAN'T be used to print checks on blank check stock.
Most of our customers prefer to use the basic office/home laser printer. You can purchase the laser printer from your local office store and online.
What kind of blank check paper is acceptable?
DO NOT use plain paper! Blank check stock has security features (watermarks, micro printing, etc.)
which help prevent fraud. ezCheckPrinting will work with any blank computer check paper with 8-1/2" X 11" size and check with size 8-1/2" X 3-1/2". EzCheckPrinting supports check-on-top, check-in-middle, check-at-bottom and three-per-page format.

Does it print the MICR encoding on checks?
Yes, ezCheckPrinting check writer does print the MICR encoding on checks. You can print MICR bank routing numbers, account numbers,
check numbers and bank information on blank check stock using a laser printer.
What are the System Requirements for ezCheckPrinting?
ezCheckPrinting Windows version works on Windows 98/NT/Me/2003/XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10, 32-bit/64-bit system or MAC machine installed with Virtual Machine or Parallels. You can run ezCheckPrinting Mac version on Mac OS system.
How long does it take to get the license key?

Since Microsoft stopped to support .net framework 1.1 and Windows XP, we released ezCheckPrinting version 6 in Year 2014. When I try to install ezCheckPrinting, it tells me I need to download the Microsoft .Net Framework. How do I do this?
ezCheckPrinting version 3 runs on the Microsoft .Net Framework, version 2.5 or later. To download and install the framework, you visit Windows Update.
The .Net Framework version 2.5 is listed as an available update for your computer. Select to install it.
After it is installed you will be able to install and run ezCheckPrinting.
How to uninstall ezCheckPrinting software?
Open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features. Select ezCheckPrinting from program list, and then click Uninstall.
2. When I start ezCheckPrinting, I got an error message which said I do not have enough permissions to run this application
Solution 1: If you are the administrator of your machine, please check this article on how to run Windows application as administrator
Solution 2: (Usually for Network version) If you are NOT the administrator, please ask your company system administrator for more permission. You need to have read, write and run persmission to use ezCheckPrinting application and to access database files.application.
What kind of file format is acceptable for signature?
The signature image file can accept .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .tiff and .png.
How can I create a signature file?
The easiest way is using free Windows Paint from Accessories -> Paint. You can set the image size to 150 X 50 in Pixel from Image-Attributes.

Can I add a text label to check?
Yes, ezCheckPrinting allows user to add customized text labels or lines from check layout setup screen. Learn more details here.
Can I customize the payee address on check?

Can I use different format check paper, for example: 3-per-page or check-at-bottom? Yes. User can change the check format to "3-per-page", "Top", "Middle" or "bottom" from the check setup page. You can click the top menu "settings->check setup" to open check setup page. Learn more details here.
How do I know if the check is properly aligned?
You can print out "Check Alignment Page" and align you check on the bottom and right line to check
if the Routing Number fits inside the correct box. The "Print Check Alignment" button is on "Check Setup Page". The Routing Number includes the leading symbol.
Can ezCheckPrinting print pre-approved draft checks?

The MICR fonts are not printed correctly on check. How to fix it?
The most common reason for font display problem is the MICR font was not installed correctly. Usually re-install check writer software on your machine can solve this problem. Learn more details here.

How can I adjust the check printing position? The MICR line is too high. You can open the check setup screen by clicking the top menu "settings->Check setup". You need to adjust the check print out position by modifying the "Offset left", "Offset right", "Offset up" or "Offset down" value. I tried to open the ezCheckPrinting backup file (.mdb file) with Access. However, I was required to enter the database password. What should I do?
You should NOT open this backup file manually or with Microsoft Access. Please follow the instruction to restore your data.
I am a CPA and I have 60 client accounts. How can I move my data to a new machine?

How to print the pre-printed blank checks for QuickBooks, Quicken, Peachtree, Microsoft Money or other software

When I run ezCheckPrinting, I got database errors. Why?
You may not have enough permissions on local machine.
To install database correctly, you need to have administrator permission to install ezCheckPrinting. When you run ezCheckPrinting, some operations require you have permission to create a new database files on your local machine, such as "New Company". When I run ezCheckPrinting, the bank account number on my check does not display correctly. Why?
It is a font problem.
1) You need to have administrator permission to install ezCheckPrinting.
2) After installation, please restart your machine.
Why just half of check or image or form or report printed from my printer?
The most common reason for this issue is the printer uses the wrong size paper. You should use the Letter size paper when you print the check. And several other settings may also cause this printing problem. Learn more here.
