Decoding IRS ACA XML Errors: A Guide for Successful eFiling

If your ACA XML submission contains errors, the IRS will return a file named 'Ack_1094_xxxxxxxxxxxx.xml'. This guide explains how to read that file and resolve the errors.

    Step 1: Interpret IRS error message manaually

    1.1 Download IRS error message from your IRS account



    1.2 Open this error description file, find the record ID, error code and and error description



    1.3 Open your ACA efile XML files and find the employee name by the record ID




    Step 2: Fix the 1095 form error for this employee.

    2.1 Start ez1095 software, open 1095C (or B) form list and find the employee



    2.2 Refer to 1095 efiling error and soluton list if needed.

    2.3 Edit form and fix the error.




    Step 3: Generate the new efile XML documents, validate it and submit to IRS.
