ezAccounting: License Registration Issue and Solution

Our system will send the license message automatically after the transaction completes. If you're unable to register your ezAccounting license, refer to this step-by-step guide for troubleshooting and solutions.

When you run ezAccounting software trial version, you will see key code pop up screen. Once you enter the key code, this pop up screen will not display again. To deposit the checks, you need to register the license code to print checks without TRIAL watermarks.

#1: You entered the wrong license key or installed the wrong software *****

The license codes of different version are different. For example: you will receive "Invalid license key" error if you enter 2024 key to ezAccounting 2025 version.

If you installed the wrong software, you can install ezAccounting at

If you installed the latest version by mistake, you can rollback to the previous version by following this guide

If you purchased the previous version and like to purchase the latest version, you can purchase the new license key at

#2: You need to copy and paste keycode including dashes("-")

Some mail server may also add extra hidden characters around key code. You can copy the key code to NotePad, then copy it to ezAccounting application to solve this issue.

How to copy and paste
Double-click on the text you want to copy, or highlight it. With the text highlighted, press Ctrl + C to copy. Move your cursor to the appropriate location and press Ctrl + V to paste

#3: Some email server may add hidden characters around key code.

Start Notepad by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Notepad, and then, in the list of results, click Notepad.

Open Notepad application, copy the license key from email to the NotePad.

Copy the key code from NotePad to your application to register it.

This process will remove the unseen charaters added to the key code by your email server.

#4: Permission issue

Reasons:
1) You do not have enough permission.
2) Or Windows updates messed up the user permissions.

You need to log in your computer as administrator or a user with enough persmission to register the key code.

Solution 1: Ask IT or system administrator in your company for help.

Solution 2: Review and edit the persmissions, if you are the administrator of the local computer.

Solution 2: Reinstall ezAccounting from scratch
While reinstalling, choose the option to install the software for "Everyone". This will help prevent most potential permission-related issues.

#5: Insufficient Privileges to install license

Reason 1: Such an error may occur when some Windows component is busy.

Solution 1: Restart computer
1) power off your computer
2) wait for 60 seconds
3) restart computer
4) Start ezAccounting and try again.

Reason 2: You do not have enough persmissions or Windows updates messed up the user permissions.

Solution 2: Reinstall ezAccounting from scratch
When reinstalling, choose the option to install the software for "Everyone". This will help prevent most potential permission-related issues.

Reason 3: The old version of ezAccounting may not be compatible with the latest Windows computer after recent Windows security updated. (For example: running ezAccounting 2021 on Windows 11.)
