    Treasury Tipped Occupation Codes (TTOC)

The IRS list of 71 occupations that customarily and regularly received tips on or before December 31, 2024. Employers enter these codes in Box 14b of 2026 Form W-2.

Only tips received in an occupation on this list can be qualified tips for the No Tax on Tips deduction on Form 1040, Schedule 1-A. The examples under each code are illustrative. An occupation can still fall under a code even when it is not named as an example.

This list is the IRS occupations page, last reviewed June 28, 2026. The same codes are in the final regulations, Treasury Decision 10044 in Internal Revenue Bulletin 2026-18. The IRS also publishes this table at IRS.gov/TippedOccupations. Bulletins through 2026-43 (October 16, 2026) have not published a later list. The statute describes one list, fixed to occupations that were customarily and regularly tipped on or before December 31, 2024.

How to report the code on 2026 Form W-2

    • Report cash tips the employee reported to you in Box 12 with code TP.
    • When you use code TP, enter up to two Treasury Tipped Occupation Codes in Box 14b.
    • If any of those tips were received in an occupation that is not on this list, include code 000 as one of the two codes.
