on solving technical challenges and supporting customers.
This role is ideal for someone with a technical background, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn new technologies and business domains. You will play a key role in helping our users succeed with both existing and upcoming products.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to databases, operating systems, and software behavior that may not be documented.
- Support users with US payroll and tax compliance workflows, including helping them calculate taxes and understand related requirements.
- Update and maintain product documentation, including publishing content on our HTML/React-based help site.
- Troubleshoot issues on Linux, Apple, and Windows environments.
- Communicate technical solutions to non-technical users in a clear, empathetic, and professional manner.
- Take initiative in learning new skills and tools as needed. As a startup, we value adaptability and ownership.
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with SQL and understanding of how relational databases work
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform tax-related calculations
- Working knowledge of HTML and a general understanding of how websites and web applications function
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Communication Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when working with customers who are not technically inclined
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms
- Professional and empathetic customer service approach
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years in a technical support, product support, or application support role
- A Computer Science, IT, or related degree at a college level
- Experience with US payroll systems, tax forms, or IRS documentation
- Hands-on experience with Linux (especially in troubleshooting scenarios) and familiarity with Windows environments
- Background in web design, content updates, or frontend frameworks like React
- Familiarity with support tools like Jira, Zendesk, or other ticketing systems
