W2 Electronic Filing: How to Apply For User ID from SSA

1 Register for an account:

1.1 Visit the SSA's Business Services Online (BSO) website.

SSA W-2 Submission

1.2 Register for an account if you don't already have one. This will involve creating a username and password and possibly providing details about your business.

2 Apply for and obtain a User ID:

2.1 During the registration process, you'll be required to apply for a User ID, which is necessary for electronically filing W-2 forms.
2.2 Follow the instructions provided on the BSO website to complete this step.

2.3 Once your application is submitted, the IRS will review it and issue a TCC if approved.

The time it takes to receive a Transmitter Control Code (TCC) from the IRS after application can vary. Typically, processing times can range from a few days to several weeks, depending on the IRS's workload.
