Troubleshooting: Invalid Format Error

Several reasons can cause this "Invalid format" error. Please follow the steps below to fix it. If you still need assistance, please follow the step 3 and send us the data file "qbfile0001.txt".

Problem 1: Print checks with QB APP.

Solution: QB virtual printer cannot work with QB APP. Please open QuickBooks online with IE, Edge, Chrome browser to print checks.


Problem 2: Adobe PDF Reader is not installed or is not enabled.

  • Solution 2.1: If you are using QuickBooks Desktop Version, please install ADOBE PDF Reader.
  • 2.1.1. Download ADODE Reader
    https://get.adobe.com/reader/

    2.1.2. restart your machine

    2.1.3. Make ADOBE the default PDF reader - Click on the "Start" menu and type "Default apps" to view it from list and open it.

    - On the right side of the window, scroll down until you can see & click on the text link for "Choose default apps by file type".



    - On the right, scroll down until you see .pdf in the very left column.



    - To the right of .pdf, click on the shown option (probably Edge).

    - From the drop-down list select either Adobe Acrobat Reader DC or Acrobat DC.

    - You can now close the Settings window.

  • 3.1. Print a check from QB to duplicate this error by follow step 3 in this guide.

  • The location of this file is:
    C:/Users/Public/Documents/Halfpricesoft/ezCheckPrintingQBImport/qbfile0001.txt

  • 3.3 Specify your system information also in your message

  • - Computer System: Windows 11, 10, 8, 7 or others?

    - QuickBooks online, Desktop versions (ie: online verison or QB 2022 version)?
